This is a pretty long interview between Arial Helwani to Alistair Overeem about a few months ago.

In this interview you get to know a lot about how Overeem actually is, needless to say, he is actually a fun loving person.

A lot of times, the fighters just put up a show to market the fight, and leave the audiences like us thinking that they are a freak or something. But actually after taking off the role as the fighter, they are just like anybody else, they also have friends and family that they love and things that they like to do other than fighting.

“Former UFC fighter, Roger Huerta, engages in a street fight in Austin, Texas against a man who appears to have punched a woman in the head. Once Huerta sees the woman collapse to the ground — he says “You just punched a f**kin’ girl.” and beat the sh*t out of that guy” – What is your take ? Do you think he is doing the right thing at that moment as a professional fighter ?

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor.

Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups – porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite – telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: “If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups have been taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups… And then you began eyeing each other’s cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of life we live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee. Savor the coffee, not the cups! The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

This weekend’s “Strikeforce:Heavy Artillery” on Showtime if going to be a very interesting match up in MMA’s heavyweight division.

The main event and the co-main featuring the heavyweight championship bout “Brett Roger vs Alistair Overeem” and Co-main event as “Antonio Silva vs Andrei Arlovski”.

Strikeforce might sounds a little unfamiliar for new MMA audiences, but for hardcore MMA fans who don’t think this weekend’s event is interesting should be ashame, because you mustn’t be following MMA in the past few years.

In my opinion, Strikeforce has started build their own fan base since they signed Dan Henderson. Fedor Emelianenko and Gegard Mousasi.

At least, they now get the chance to put on their show on national television with those big names to guarantee the rating.

Even though UFC is way beyond what Strikeforce is right now, but I still think stirkeforce still posts some significant threat to UFC.

I think it is really a good thing to have competition out there for UFC, just so that UFC will put on a better show for us, and not monopolize United States market

And in the last couple weeks’, the weather has been really bad, it has been on and off rain pretty much everyday. But at least Huntsville is not as bad as the severe storm in Northern Arkansas and the flood in Tennessee that killed a number of people.

Seeing all these disaster happened making me feel uneasy, the dangerous of mother nature is getting unpredictable these day. Is the doom day nearing us, or perhaps that is the sign of the approaching of “2012″

Whatever it is. We just have to make sure that we live and enjoy our life for the present.

I don’t know if I should say it is sad or happy to hear Bret Hart is back in WWE for the first time since 1997.

I think back in the business that he does best is probably the best thing he can do at this stage of life.

In my opinion, I think it is sad to see an out of shape fighter like him still keep their feet inside the ring to compete with the younger and fitter opponent; even though he still has huge drawing power in this sport (otherwise I dont see why WWE will sign him to fight again), but people will slowly forget what this legend has done in this sport, and what they see now would be an old and over the hill Bret Hart.

People always want to remember their heroes at their best, not as faded shells of their former selves, and watch with sorrow as their icons become mere mortals.

For Bret Hart’s reason is simple : nothing else in life can match the rush of competing in the ring.
